Anton Alvarez in ‘Architecture of Enjoyment’ at Fokidos 21, Greece, October 2014

'The Thread Wrapping Machine Side Table 130214' (2014) by Anton Alvarez is to be included in 'Architecture of Enjoyment', an exhibition of contemporary art and design curated by Marcelle Joseph.

Joseph has taken inspiration for the exhibition from French philosopher Henri Lefebvre's manuscript 'Toward an Architecture of Enjoyment' of 1973. She explores Lefebvre's conception of "concrete utopia", a space removed from the everyday as well as all things political and devoted to enjoyment. The exhibition pairs five artists with a designer or architect in order to create micro architectural "environment of enjoyment", and offers a dialogue between the pairings. Anton Alvarez's side table is positioned with a studio stool by artist Christopher Green and abstract paintings by Bobby Dowler.
