Liliana Ovalle in ‘New Territories’ at the Museum of Art and Design, New York, November 2014

The exhibition 'New Territories: Laboratories for Design, Craft and Art in Latin America' at the Museum of Art and Design features 'Sink Hole Vessels' by Liliana Ovalle. To create these, the London-based designer returned to her native Mexico to collaborate with Colectivo 1050 - a group of designers, artists and artisans working together to make high-quality products in Oaxaca, Mexico. The mission was to learn from Oaxacan ancestral and indigenous ceramic techniques which are in threat of being lost.

The MAD exhibition celebrates the prodigious creativity eminating from Latin American cities. 'New Territories' focuses on collaborations between small scale manufacturers and the commentary created by the works. The exhibition runs from 30 September 2014 until 15 March 2015.
