L Bar by Glass Hill L Bar by Glass Hill : Andaz Hotel, London

Andaz Hotel, London
21 - 25 September 2010

For the London Design Festival, Gallery Libby Sellers presented the 'L Bar at Andaz Hotel' - an exciting and fast-paced pop-up bar located outside the hotel's Liverpool Street entrance.

Faced with the challenge of commissioning a design for the bar in a matter of days then overseeing its physical manifestation in a couple of weeks, Gallery Libby Sellers appointed the perfect design team for the occasion - the London-based practice Glass Hill.

Having previously designed the Royal College of Art's Artbar and working towards a succession of British inns, Glass Hill were prime contenders for the 'L Bar'. For Sellers this was an extension of her mission statement to nurture and support design talent while creating an eloquent dialogue with her gallery's concurrent exhibition inside Andaz hotel - the London debut of the digital work 'Branches' by Simon Heijdens.

For Bergström and Nunn the design brief was a highly rewarding task that brought their poetic and arresting design solutions to a wider audience. With some tens of thousands of pedestrians passing the site on a daily basis, the wooden, vaulted 'L Bar' quenched the thirsts of both the local commuter and design community alike.
